9/11

On September 11, 2001, four U.S. planes hijacked by terrorists crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people in a matter of hours. Behind the staggering number of deaths are the individuals, each of whom left behind family, friends and co-workers.

Gone but not forgotten. RIP.

  4. And ten years on, the rawness, the horror of that tragic day, is deeply engrained in our hearts and minds.
May we never forget those who lost their lives, the grieving families and the children who, with the passage of time, found out how mummy or daddy died. Bless them all and the heroes who risked and lost their lives to save others on the day the world changed, forever.
In peace, for all of us, Gary

  6. Hi Gary - Beautifully said. Like so many others, I will never forget that terrible day that terrorists, not only attacked America, but the rest of the civilized world as well.

    There are no words.

  7. Hi, Wendy! You're so right, the attack was against all civilized people and not just America. It threatened the very foundations of what we all believed to be fundamental rights and securities. Thank you for reminding us of each of those individuals who lost their lives that day, and each of those, as well, who were forever changed because of those losses. May there be peace.

  9. Hi Kim - Like you said, 911 shook the very foundations of what we believe. The right to 'be' and 'be heard'. Very very sad day.

Hey, nice to see you :)

I will also light a candle tonight for all those who lost their lives. The haunting memories of that horrific day are still as fresh in my mind as if it were yesterday.

    Take care x

  18. Greetings, and welcome aboard, I thank you for following my blog, I'm grateful for your interest. Yes, I was living in Pennsylvania on that surreal, horrific day. It's a day that will live on in the recesses of our mind for as long as we shall live. It's wonderful how you have honored those that perished in an unspeakable manner, through your personal memorial for that dark, and sorrowful day. Later......

  19. The Manic Chef - Likewise, and welcome to you too, good sir :)

Yes, I think that day will forever be etched in all our minds. Perhaps one day the human race, will realise that nothing becomes of violence - terrorism or otherwise. We live in sad times but we must remain positive. Easily said than done, I know ...

  20. Wendy! You need to start blogging again, my friend (((hug)))

I went through that list and I was dumbstruck to see all those poor peoples names :'( It just doesn't seem real, so, so many people.

  21. Hey Kurt! Yes, I know. I'm simply the worlds worst blogger...

It hits home doesn't it, when you actually see the list of names. Terrible. Absolutely terrible.

    ((hugs back))

  22. I scrolled down the victims' list of United Airlines Flight #93 to see the name Todd Beamer,
whose cell phone last words "let's roll" started the desparate attempt to take back the plane.

After ten years I still get sad, and angry.

  23. Hi Wally - I thought having a link to victims names would make the post hit home. As it should.

It makes me angry and sad too.
